Arbitrary Initial Potential and Current Distributions Herbert Krauss Telecommunications Institute, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Cauerstrasse 7, D-91058 Erlangen, Germany [email protected] ABSTRACT A method for simulating transients on coupled transmission lines by means of multidimensional wave digital lter (MWDF) techniques is proposed. The suggested method allows to treat arbitrary initial potential and current distributions as well as boundary conditions originating from linear lumped element terminations. Moreover, the method is also applicable to nonuniform transmission lines with space{dependent parameters. A great advantage of the method is its computational e ciency, because all necessary calculations take place directly in the space{time domain.
